Out of Hours
An urgent medical problem is one that you would normally visit the practice for and cannot wait before the next available surgery. Please remember that the ‘out-of-hours’ service is for urgent problems only. Outside normal hours is after 6:30pm and before 8:00am on weekdays, all day Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.
For all urgent problems, please first ring 111. The ‘out of hours’ service is based at Hertford County Hospital. You can contact them on 111 for advice or if you wish to be seen. Do not go there without an appointment.
Emergencies ONLY Outside Normal Surgery Hours
A medical emergency is a condition which has suddenly arisen or suddenly worsened and which would seriously endanger your health if not assessed immediately. An emergency will require you to ring 999 or make your way to the nearest A+E unit (Princess Alexandra Hospital or The Lister Hospital).
From October 2018, routine GP, Nurse and HCA appointments are available in your area during the evenings and at weekends, as part of an ‘Extended Access’ service for patients registered at practices in Hertford, Hoddesdon, Buntingford, Ware and the surrounding areas.
You are able to book routine appointments to see a GP, Nurse or other health professional in the evenings between 6.30pm-8.30pm and at weekends from 8am-1pm. Appointments can be booked in advance and some are available on the day. The clinics will be held in Hanscombe House Surgery, Hertford.
For more information on the extended access service or to book (or cancel) an appointment, please contact your practice during normal opening hours. If you require a same day routine appointment on a Saturday or Sunday please call 07535 086314.
